Welcome to my brain...

So... I was at this amazing presentation yesterday, given by a very dynamic speaker, courtesy of my illustrator group. I was really engaged and feverishly taking notes...or so I thought. Five minutes later, I realized that there was this little guy on the page. Not sure how or why he appeared, just knew that he did... and I loved him! I felt compelled to spend a little more time with my new friend, before I went back to the portfolio review portion of the presentation.

Welcome to my brain and how it works. It was not that the speaker wasn't amazing, she was! It's just how my thought process has always worked. There was something in that presentation that triggered this visual and I HAD to put it down on paper!! I have been like this for as long as I can remember. I really love when it happens, although I can't say, that as a young child,  my teachers shared my enthusiasm ;o)
As an adult, I've learned to embrace my creative process and the more I network with other artists, the more I realize that I'm not alone. Do I miss things because of the way my brain works...yes, occasionally, but never the opportunity to make a "new friend" !

  1. Funny how that happens, isn't it? Very cute little guy. Have you named him yet?

  2. Thanks Lisa! He has no name yet, but he has a story since early last year. It has good bones...forgive the pun...but I have a few things to work out in the flow of the middle of the story. I think I've got it nailed, but no time to re do yet. It's one of my goals this year!
